Greyhounds appeared in my life by chance.
Our family always had only guard dogs, at first German shepherd. Then a riesenschnauzer named Sheriff and at age of 9 I was presented with my own dog. She was a nice and touching girl named Sherry, an Airedale terrier. She stayed with me for 14 years and I have the best memories of her.
I always liked sighthound. I could watch them for hours and enjoy viewing them. They are so gorgeous, elegant and graceful. How lovely they were in a race!
I got to know Russian borzoi and Afghan hounds owners and more about the dogs and realized that negative opinion on them was merely a superstition – those people never kept a sighthound.
I made up my mind to have a sighthound by no means. But the question was which?......
One day a friend of mine called me and said, that there was a greyhound litter and only one puppy had not been taken. “Are you going to have a look?” – she asked.
“Of course, I am! And what is a greyhound? Sighthound? English? I’m coming.”
I grasped a German dog catalogue off the shelf as I was sure that it was useless to look up in a Russian one. Reading it on the way in metro I found the race. “What an ugly thing!” – I thought. It was not the same dog in the photo as in my imagination and it didn’t look like a sighthound. It looked rather like a Staffordshire, but not a sighthound. Actually the photo was bad due to the bad angle.
With such a mixed feeling I rang at the door.
I was met by Diana, a gorgeous black beauty, a real elegance and aristocracy. All my doubts vanished at once. It was the dog I had been dreaming about even without seeing it. It was absolutely clear that I wouldn’t leave the place without a puppy.
Thus in March 1991 Alice (Alice From Alk Island) appeared in my house and since then greyhounds occupied my heart forever.
Two years later a common thing happened – I was eager to have another greyhound and brought home a 9 month old Monic (Mongrel Atlant Rapid) from Ternopol.Monic became an outstanding racer and quitted his racing carrier only at the age of 8.
In November 1993 there was the first litter “L” from Alice and Elton (Elton Filemino) – their puppies, Leicher (Leicher of WonderLand) and Luis (Luis of WonderLand), stayed with me.
Linda (Linda Irokez of WonderLand) was co-owned with Irina Korennova.
Luis is still alive and has celebrated his 16th birthday recently!
In 1994 the second litter from Alice and Monic were born and 7 nice puppies were taken to their new homes.
Magia (Magia of Wonderland) stayed at the kennel in co-ownership with Oksana Ljutsko.
Minotavr (Minotavr of Wonderland) stayed at the kennel in co-ownership with Helen Zakcharova.
In December 1995 Senator (Senator Stenly Line) was acquired in co-ownership with Helen Zakcharova.
In July 1998 the litter “A” with addition “Racing Praid” were born from Magia and Elton.
And here is in 2009 after a long break we acquired a new greyhound imported from the kennel “Mistweave”- Mistweave Mystic Cossack
